F9: The Fast Saga releases this Friday, but the series is already in celebration mode since it’s the 20th anniversary of The Fast and the Furious today. A new featurette and 60-second television spot were released proving that “Fast is back” and taking viewers down a trip through memory lane.
First up is a 60-second television clip going through 20 years of the franchise:
The new F9 featurette takes a look at the series’ history and shows a look at some new stunts to make sure everyone is ready for the return on Friday.
F9: The Fast Saga sees the return of Justin Lin as director, who helmed the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth chapters of the series, which transformed into a global phenomenon. The action hurtles around the globe—from London to Tokyo, from Central America to Edinburgh, and from a secret bunker in Azerbaijan to the teeming streets of Tbilisi. Along the way, old friends will be resurrected, old foes will return, history will be rewritten, and the true meaning of family will be tested like never before.
F9 features several returning cast members back to the action franchise, including Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Sung Kang, plus Oscar winners Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron.
New characters in this entry include former WWE Champion John Cena as Jakob Toretto, the brother of Diesel’s character, and Grammy-winner Cardi B as Leysa, a woman with a connection to Dom’s past. Plus, a cameo by Reggaeton musician Ozuna is confirmed.
