First Uncharted Footage Revealed For the Tom Holland-Led Adaptation

After fans were treated to a brand new image from Sony Pictures’ long-awaited Uncharted movie earlier this week, the first footage of the long-in-development film adaptation of Naughty Dog’s hit video game series has finally been revealed in Sony’s new promotional video that highlights each division of the company. Although it’s only a brief snippet of the upcoming film, it still provides us with a new look at Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg’s chemistry as Nathan Drake and Victor Sullivan.

The film is currently slated to arrive in theaters on February 18, 2022, which sees the action-adventure film going up against two competitors in the form of Paramount Pictures’ new animated film Rumble and Michael Bay’s newest action-thriller Ambulance starring Jake Gyllenhaal.

Directed by Zombieland and Venom director Ruben Fleischer, Uncharted is expected to be a prequel to the game series anf will be taking inspiration from both a sequence of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, in which young thief Nathan Drake first meets future partner Victor Sullivan, and the fourth installment in the game franchise, A Thief’s End.

The film adaptation will be led by Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland as Nathan Drake, and Mark Wahlberg (Transformers films). It will also feature Academy Award-nominated actor Antonio Banderas (The Mask of Zorro, Pain and Glory), Grey’s Anatomy actress Sophia Ali and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star Tati Gabrielle.

Fleischer, who was the seventh director attached to the project, is directing Uncharted from a script written by the Men in Black: International duo Art Marcum & Matt Holloway and Rafe Judkins (The Wheel of Time), based on a story put together by the trio and previous director Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane), Mark D. Walker, and John Hanley Rosenberg.
