Emma Stone Lights Up the Party in Disney’s Cruella Clip

With only a month left before its debut, the first Cruella clip for Walt Disney Studios’ upcoming live-action Disney film has been released, featuring Emma Stone, Emma Thompson and Mark Strong. The video provides us an extended look at the party scene that was teased in previous trailers. It features Stone’s Estella as she became the center of attention when she arrived at the party dressed in her fiery outfit. The film is scheduled to debut on May 28 in theaters and on Disney+ with Premier Access.

Based on the character created by Dodie Smith in her 1956 book The Hundred and One Dalmatians, Disney’s Cruella will explore the rebellious early days of one of cinema’s most notorious – and notoriously fashionable – villains, the legendary Cruella de Vil. Set in 1970s London amidst the punk rock revolution, the film follows a young grifter named Estella, a clever and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her designs. She befriends a pair of young thieves who appreciate her appetite for mischief, and together they are able to build a life for themselves on the London streets.

One day, Estella’s flair for fashion catches the eye of Baroness von Hellman, a fashion legend who is devastatingly chic and terrifyingly Haute. But their relationship sets in motion a course of events and revelations that will cause Estella to embrace her wicked side and become the raucous, fashionable, and revenge-bent Cruella.

The film will be led by Emma Stone (La La Land) as the young version of the titular fur-obsessed antagonist. Joining her is fellow Academy Award winner Emma Thompson as the Baroness, Joel Fry as Jasper and Paul Walter Hauser as Horace (the bumbling henchmen from the original 101 Dalmatians), along with Mark Strong, Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Emily Beecham.

I, Tonya filmmaker Craig Gillespie is directing Cruella from a screenplay by Dana Fox and Tony McNamara based on a story by Aline Brosh McKenna and Kelly Marcel & Steve Zissis. Two-time Oscar-winning costume designer Jenny Beavan (Mad Max: Fury Road) creates the dazzling and imaginative costumes, which take on a life of their own. It is executive produced by original Cruella actress Glenn Close with Emma Stone, Michelle Wright, Jared LeBoff, Andrew Gunn, Marc Platt and Kristin Burr set as producers.
