IFC Films has released the official Monday trailer for director Argyris Papadimitropoulos’ long-delayed romantic drama film starring Sebastian Stan and Denise Gough. The video features Stan and Gough’s characters as they get caught up in a whirlwind romance while on a summer vacation in Greece. It also provides viewers a glimpse into their intense relationship where they must decide if their romance will end as quickly as it begun.
Originally scheduled to debut at last year’s Tribeca Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival, the film will now arrive in theaters and on VOD on April 16, 2021. Check out the video in the player below!
Monday is described as a classy-looking film that will focus on Chloe and Mickey, two self-destructive Americans, living across Athens and the Greek islands who will be involved in an intense romance. When Chloe’s time in Greece is drawing to a close, she decides to give up her high-flying job back home and explore whether one weekend’s passion can stand the reality of the inevitable Monday.
The film will be directed by Greek director Argyris Papadimitropoulos (Suntan). The script is co-written by screenwriter-playwright Rob Hayes (This Will End Badly) and Papadimitropoulos.
Monday is produced by Christos V. Konstantakopoulos (Before Midnight), Damian Jones (Iron Lady), and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Loving). La La Land‘s producer Fred Berger will be the film’s executive producer. Protagonist Pictures will handle the film’s international sales while Faliro House and its partners will be the ones financing the feature.
Sebastian Stan is best known for his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier. He will next be seen in Marvel Studios’ upcoming Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Denise Gough (Colette) is an award-winning stage actress known for her roles in stage plays like People Places And Things and Angel In America.
