City of Lies Teaser Trailer Starring Johnny Depp & Forest Whitaker

Saban Films has released the official City of Lies teaser trailer starring Johnny Depp and Forest Whitaker. The biographical crime drama is based on the book LAbyrinth by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Randall Sullivan. The movie follows the investigation into the murder of iconic rap artist Christopher Wallace, aka the Notorious B.I.G. You can check out the teaser now in the player below along with the poster!

In September 1996, Tupac Shakur was murdered in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas. In March 1997, the Notorious B.I.G. was similarly shot after an awards show in Los Angeles. Neither crime has ever been solved. Sullivan’s book received critical acclaim and prompted two lawsuits against the LAPD, sparked an FBI investigation, and continues to be the definitive story of two of the most infamous unsolved murderers in hip hop history.

Oscar nominee Johnny Depp (Sweeney Todd, Finding Neverland, Pirates of the Caribbean franchise) stars as determined LAPD detective Russell Poole, who spent nearly 20 years trying to solve the murder, and Oscar and Primetime Emmy winner Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland, Godfather of Harlem, Lee Daniels’ The Butler) as Jack Jackson, a journalist who teams up with Poole in search of the elusive truth. Together they explore why the case remains cold — and why a secret division of the LAPD is seemingly set on keeping it that way.
