Screen Gems and MGM’s Carrie redo has received an R rating for bloody violence, disturbing images, language and some sexual content. That confirmation comes via a new TV spot that has hit the web. This is quite the surprise considering the nature of the material and the belief that the studio would be aiming for a PG-13 to garner the widest possible audience.

Directed by Kimberly Peirce, Carrie stars Chloe Moretz, Julianne Moore, Judy Greer, Portia Doubleday, Gabriella Wilde and Ansel Elgort.
