New The Front Runner vignette reveals Gary Hart vs. the press
Sony Pictures Entertainment has released a brand new vignette for director Jason Reitman’s upcoming political biopic The Front Runner, based on the presidential campaign of the one-time front-runner, and former Senator, Gary Hart portrayed by Hugh Jackman. The video features an interview by Jackman talking about how the press and scandal affected Gary Hart’s run for presidency. The film will open on November 7 at selected theaters and will expand nationwide on November 21. Check out the video below!
Oscar nominee Hugh Jackman stars as the charismatic politician Gary Hart in the film that follows the rise and fall of Senator Hart, who captured the imagination of young voters and was considered the overwhelming front-runner for the 1988 Democratic presidential nomination when his campaign was sidelined by the story of an extramarital relationship with Donna Rice. As tabloid journalism and political journalism merged for the first time, Senator Hart was forced to drop out of the race – events that left a profound and lasting impact on American politics and the world stage.
The Front Runner also stars Vera Farmiga (The Conjuring), J.K. Simmons (Juno), Alfred Molina (FX’s The Feud), Sara Paxton (Twin Peaks), and Kaitlyn Dever.
The film has already made the rounds of film festivals. It celebrated its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival, as well as screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, and will also be the closing night film at this year’s Austin Film Festival.
