‘Suspect Zero’ Movie Review (2004)

Did you think all the angles for serial killer movies had been done? Well, how about Ghandi as a serial killer, he could be in the thriller Suspect Zero.

FBI Agent Tom Mackleway (Aaron Eckhart) is contacted by a mysterious former FBI agent Benjamin O’Ryan (Ben Kingsley). O’Ryan is a hunter of serial killers, and wants Mackleway’s help in catching the ultimate killer on the loose, Suspect Zero.

This all sounds kind of interesting, maybe not the most original, but you can see the potential, and the trailer looks good, unfortunately, this movie never lives up to its potential. Maybe because of its 10, count them 10, producers including executive or co-producers. Did too many cooks spoil the broth?

This definitely seems to be the case, the jumbled plot is all over the place, and cannot, as hard as it tries, stay coherent. Throughout the entire film, I was hoping that the movie would get interesting, but it never did. It could never move in a linear motion, instead it jumped around and used tricky film techniques to try and keep my interest.

The rest of the blame for this dud can be put square on the shoulders of the actors involved, mainly Aaron Eckhart, who is in way over his head and does an absolutely terrible job of drawing the audience into the film as Ben Kingsley’s talent is mostly wasted, as is Carrie-Anne Moss.

Suspect Zero is a real disappointment of a film, which sucks, because you can see its potential and want it to be good. Maybe it just needed a few more producers.
