‘American Wedding’ Movie Review (2003)

After the first American Pie we were excited to see a second, then the sequel came and lived up to sequel expectations with a few laughs but no where near as good as the first, and the thought of a third was scary, but then cue the hijinks and you have the best installment yet.

American Wedding takes all that was good from the first two flicks and builds on it, and then takes out the bad. You won’t see Oz (Chris Klein) or his unfunny girlfriend Heather (Mena Suvari) from the first flicks, and they are not missed.

With Oz and Heather out of the picture it is unfortunate we aren’t graced by a cameo appearance by Nadia (Shannon Elizabeth), but we do get more of what she offered in the form of a couple of bachelor party strippers dressed as cop and maid, and be on the lookout for Stifler’s mom.

American Wedding tells the story of Jim (Biggs) and Michelle (Hannigan) as they go through the trials of getting engaged up to the climactic wedding day. The only thing that stands in their way of bliss is the antics of Steve Stifler (Scott) and his raging hormones.

Stifler as developed in the first two Pie movies was a horny troublemaker, and while in Wedding the active libido is still there, instead of being a troublemaker he has become a dimwitted boob letting his mouth run wild and his penis guide the way.

Building on Stifler’s antics, American Wedding is a series of sexual related disasters that leaves you in stitches. Screenwriter, Adam Herz, has no shame as he guides the cast through a series of mishaps that would have any normal child institutionalized. Scenes such as Stifler and Jim with a couple of horny dogs, Stifler in a gay bar, a bout with doggy poo and a gust of shaved pubic hair are all a part of the mayhem that is American Wedding.

If you don’t enjoy adolescent humor and potty jokes then stay home and don’t bore us with your uptight sense of humor, but if you are looking for some downright raunchy fun sit your ass down and enjoy!
