Although the film was a no-go at Paramount Pictures, Valiant Entertainment is moving forward with their Harbinger adaptation. The company has brought back Stephen Susco to write the script as a possible directing vehicle for Brett Ratner, reports Variety. Susco and Ratner were previously attached when the project was at Paramount.
Alexandra Milchan will produce with Jay Stern along with Valiant Entertainment CEO Jason Kothari and chief creative officer Dinesh Shamdasani.
Created by former Marvel Editor-in-Chief Jim Shooter, the “Harbinger” comic book series was a hit in the 1990s, selling over five million comic books and was named Comic Book of the Decade.
Harbingers are humans with powers that can be unlocked by “omega” harbingers. Teenager Pete Stanchek finds himself on a collision course with an older “omega” who used his gifts to become an evil industrialist.
