Paramount Pictures and Qualcomm have officially released their interactive app that ties into to the world of the upcoming Star Trek Into Darkness. The exact reasoning has not yet been revealed, but fans will want to make sure the app is running during this Sunday’s Super Bowl XLVII.
Last week, ComingSoon.net was invited to Paramount to take an early look at the app, which allows fans to complete missions to unlock special content related to the May 17 release. The app’s designers have made a special point of tailoring the interactivity of the app to make use of cutting edge phone and tablet technologies like audio scan, geo-location recognition, and image recognition.
The iTunes version of the app is now available by clicking here with the Android version to be released later today (check back for a link). Registered users of the app will be automatically entered into a sweepstakes for the chance to win a VIP trip to the U.S. premiere.
