Mark Wahlberg and Universal Plan Project Based on True Hacker Tale

Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson are set to produce an untitled film project inspired by a true hacker tale, says The Hollywood Reporter. Set up at Universal, the film is loosely based on a recent GQ article titled “The Hacker is Watching” by David Kushner.

Written by Jonathan Herman, the film follows a teenage hacker who uses his expert skills against his fellow high school students.

There’s no word yet on whether or not Wahlberg might also end up starring in the project. Although the film is planned for a younger cast, the Ted star could play a supporting role.

Wahlberg can next be seen in Allen Hughes’ Broken City opposite Russell Crowe and in Michael Bay’s Pain & Gain opposite Dwayne Johnson.
