Anthony Mackie joining the all-star cast of The Woman in the Window
Anthony Mackie is the next big-name celebrity to join Joe Wright’s adaptation of A.J. Finn’s bestseller The Woman in the Window, per Variety.
The Avengers star joins an A-list ensemble that includes five time Academy-Award nominee Amy Adams (Arrival) and Academy-Award winners Julianne Moore (Still Alice) and Gary Oldman; the latter reuniting with his Darkest Hour director.
Tracy Letts (Lady Bird) is adapting the screenplay based on the No. 1 New York Times bestseller.
The Woman in the Window tells the story of Dr. Anna Fox (Amy Adams), a recluse in New York City who drinks her days away alone in her apartment, watching classic films and her neighbors. When the Russells move into the house across the way, Anna sees the ideal family and spies on them, only to witness a shocking event that changes her life.
Previous reports cited the story serving as an homage to the Alfred Hitchcock classic Rear Window.
The Fox 2000 adaptation will be produced by Scott Rudin (Lady Bird, No Country for Old Men) and Eli Bush (Lady Bird, Annihilation). The Woman in the Window will arrive in theaters on October 4, 2019.
Mackie can currently be seen in Avengers: Infinity War, now available on Blu-ray and digital release. Ever the busybody, he is also slated to star in Sony’s Miss Bala and Fox 2000’s The Hate U Give, and will produce and star in the Johnnie Cochran biopic Signal Hill.
