Anthony Hopkins to Play Methuselah in Aronofsky’s Noah

There are lots of cool reasons why it’s awesome that filmmaker Darren Aronofsky is on Twitter, but the coolest of them is that he can keep us abreast on his latest movie, the biblical epic Noah, as it happens.

This morning, he revealed on Twitter that Sir Anthony Hopkins will be joining the cast, which includes Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Saoirse Ronan, Douglas Booth, Logan Lerman, Emma Watson and Ray Winstone, playing Methuselah, the world’s oldest man mentioned in the Hebrew Bible who according to the story died seven days before the Great Flood.

As Aronofsky puts it on Twitter:

i’m honored to be working with the great sir anthony hopkins. we just added him to the stellar cast of #Noah; #methuselahlives.

Sir Anthony is only 74 years old, a far cry from the 969 years that Methuselah supposedly lived before he died.

The movie is currently filming, planned for a March 28, 2014 release by Paramount Pictures.
