Ed Zwick’s The Great Wall to Feature Something Inhuman

Deadline reports that director Ed Zwick’s The Great Wall has been pushed back from a fall start to a spring start. What’s more interesting, however, is the synopsis that the site gives for the film:

Set in 15th century China, The Great Wall is about British warriors who happen upon the hurried construction of the massive wall. As night falls, the warriors realize that the haste in building the wall isn’t just to keep out the Mongols — there is something inhuman and more dangerous. The picture is based on an idea by Legendary CEO Thomas Tull and Max Brooks.

Henry Cavill (Man of Steel) and Benjamin Walker (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) were previously set to star and now Zhang Ziyi has joined the Legendary Pictures project as well. The site adds that the film will shoot in China and New Zealand.

What do you think China is trying to keep out in the film?
