Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros. Pictures has attached “Sherlock Holmes” helmer Guy Ritchie to direct Treasure Island, with Alex Harakis set to write a new draft of the script.
Ritchie will produce the adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel with his partner Lionel Wigram and Langley Parks Kevin McCormick.
When the project was first announced, it was said they wanted to update the 19th century tale for contemporary audiences, playing up the relationship between Long John Silver and narrator Jim Hawkins.
