After Bridesmaids earned $288 million at the worldwide box office on a budget of just $32.5 million, Universal Pictures was ready to go on another one much like how The Hangover‘s success led to a second (although not as well received) film.
But star, co-writer and co-producer Kristen Wiig is fine leaving it at that. She tells E! Online that they are “not planning on doing one. We had a special time making the first one, but we’re really excited to try something else.”
Instead, Wiig and her Bridesmaids co-writer Annie Mumolo are working on a new project. “It’s going to be a little bit of a different tone, but it’s going to be a comedy, for sure.”
