Sony Pictures has begun meeting with Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions about a potential sequel to his 2010 hit, Grown Ups. Variety has the news, reporting that the original film’s writer, Fred Wolf, is in negotiations to write the script with Sandler potentially interested in reprising his role as one of five friends dealing with fatherhood.
A Grown Ups sequel would mark the first time that Sandler sequelized one of his own projects. If he does, indeed, decide to return, it would quite likely be alongside his four co-stars from the original, Kevin James, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider and David Spade.
Sandler’s most recent film, Jack and Jill is currently underperforming, having grossed $76,000,000 worldwide. That’s less than a third of the $271,000,000 that Grown Ups turned out last year, marking his most successful feature to date.
