Dry County Entertainment has planned an unlikely remake in the form of Chopping Mall, Variety reports. Robert Hall, the man behind Laid to Rest and Chromeskull: Laid to Rest 2 will direct, re-teaming with screenwriter and producing partner Kevin Bocarde.
The original film, written and directed by Jim Wynorski, was produced by Julie and Roger Corman and released in 1986 under the title Killbots. The story involved a group of teenagers trapped inside a shopping mall and hunted by the building’s new security force: state of the art robots with a taste for blood.
The new version of Chopping Mall is expected to downplay the science fiction elements and instead focus on a supernatural terror.
