Robert Zemeckis Plans Charles Fort

Robert Zemeckis has set up a project at Universal Pictures called Charles Fort, says a story at The Hollywood Reporter. The film will be based on the 2002 Dark Horse Comics miniseries “Fort: Prophet of the Unexplained” by Peter M. Lenkov and Frazer Irving.

Fort, a real life examiner of the unexplained, wrote “The Book of the Damned” and “New Lands” in the early part of the 20th century. The comic book series cast Fort in a fantastical light, going up against actual paranormal entities.

Zemeckis will produce the adaptation through ImageMovers Digital with a script by Evan Spiliotopoulos. He could direct the project as well, adding it to his ever-increasing upcoming slate that includes the time travel films Timeless and Replay, a sequel to his Who Framed Roger Rabbit and a CGI/live action hybrid How to Survive a Garden Gnome Attack. His very next, Flight, marks the first live-action film for Zemeckis since Cast Away in 2000 and is expected to hit theaters in 2012.
