Colton Harris-Moore, the young criminal dubbed the “Barefoot Bandit,” has sold the rights to his life story to 20th Century Fox for $1.3 million. The news arrives from Everett, Washington’s Daily Herald (via The Hollywood Reporter).
Dustin Lance Black (Milk) will provide the screenplay for the tale, detailing Harris-Moore’s young life of crime, which culminated in the attempt to flee the United States in a stolen boat and plane.
The amount of money paid to Harris-Moore is short of the $1.4 million that he owes in criminal restitution, as he and his lawyers want to make clear that he does not seek to directly profit from the arrangement.
