Terrence Malick’s Song to Song Gets Release Date, First Look

Indiewire is reporting that the latest film from acclaimed director Terrence Malick (Tree of Life, Days of Heaven, Knight of Cups), titled Song to Song (formally “Weightless”), has been given a March 17, 2017 release date by Broad Green Pictures. They have also revealed the first official synopsis and a photo featuring stars Ryan Gosling, Michael Fassbender and Rooney Mara, which you can check out in the gallery below!

Here’s the synopsis: “In this modern love story set against the Austin, Texas music scene, two entangled couples — struggling songwriters Faye (Rooney Mara) and BV (Ryan Gosling), and music mogul Cook (Michael Fassbender) and the waitress whom he ensnares (Natalie Portman) — chase success through a rock ‘n’ roll landscape of seduction and betrayal.”

Also slated to appear in the picture (as of this writing, Malick is notorious for cutting actors out of his films) include Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Benicio Del Toro, Boyd Holbrook, Val Kilmer, Bérénice Marlohe and Holly Hunter. Popular musicians such as Patti Smith, Lykke Li, the Black Lips, Iggy Pop, Florence and the Machine and the Red Hot Chili Peppers will also cameo in the film.

Song to Song is written and directed by Malick, and produced by Sarah Green, Ken Kao and Nicolas Gonda, with Oscar-winning cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki (Gravity, Birdman, The Revenant) serving as director of photography.
