Adam DeVine & Jeffrey Tambor Enroll in Disney’s Magic Camp

According to Variety, Adam DeVine (Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, Pitch Perfect 2) and two-time Emmy Winner Jeffrey Tambor (TransparentThe Hangover) are set to headline Walt Disney Pictures’ live-action family comedy Magic Camp. Mark Waters (Mean Girls, Bad Santa 2) will direct.

DeVine will play a former magic camp counselor who goes back to reignite his career, but ultimately finds inspiration a ragtag group of rookie magicians. Tambor will co-star as Roy Preston, DeVine’s former mentor and owner of the magic camp.

Steve Martin was originally attached to star in Tambor’s role and co-write the screenplay with Jeff Judah and Gabe Sachs (Diary of a Wimpy Kid) and Stu Zicherman (A.C.O.D.), though he is no longer attached.

Dan Gregor and Doug Mand wrote the current draft of the script, with Suzanne Todd producing. Production on Magic Camp is expected to begin in early December in and around Los Angeles.
