John Cho Joins Total Recall

It’s been a busy casting week for Len Wiseman’s remake of Total Recall. EW reports that John Cho is the latest member to join the cast of the Columbia Pictures film.

A remake of the 1990 Paul Verhoeven adaptation of the short Philip K. Dick story, “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale,” the original starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as Douglas Quaid (to be played by Colin Farrell in this version), a man who, after buying implanted memories of a vacation, begins to remember experiences tied to an elaborate conspiracy. The new version is said to leave out the interplanetary aspect of the plot and will not, as the original did, feature the planet Mars.

Cho will play McClane, a salesman for the virtual vacation company. In the original, the part was played by Ray Baker.

The Star Trek actor joins Farrell, Bryan Cranston and, just revealed yesterday, Bill Nighy, Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel. Ethan Hawke is also said to appear in a cameo role.

Total Recall is currently eyeing an August 3, 2012 release
