Anna Faris Joins The Dictator

Anna Faris has won the role of the female lead in the upcoming comedy The Dictator, says a story at The Hollywood Reporter.

The film, which reunites the Borat and Bruno actor/director pair of Sacha Baron Cohen and Larry Charles, is said to be aiming for heavy improvisation and is inspired by Saddam Hussein’s novel “Zabibah and the King.” It will feature Cohen as both a goat-herder and an oppressive dictator who finds himself lost in America.

Faris was, last week, said to be on the short list for the role, up against both Gillian Jacobs and Kristen Wiig. The part is now being described as the owner of a natural foods store in New York City.

Faris most recently appeared in Take Me Home Tonight and Yogi Bear. She’ll enter production soon on The Dictator with the film scheduled to hit theaters on May 11, 2012.
