Paul Giamatti and Amy Adams are the latest names to be associated with Adam Shankman’s Rock of Ages. The Hollywood Reporter says that both actors are currently in talks to star.
Based on the hit Broadway musical, the story centers on two people who meet at the Sunset Strip club “Rock of Ages” and fall for one another against the backdrop of ’80s rock anthems. The cast is currently set to include Tom Cruise, Mary J. Blige, Julianne Hough and Alec Baldwin.
Giamatti’s role would be that of Paul Gill, a music executive responsible for Cruise’s character, rock star Stacee Jaxx. Adams would, meanwhile, play an entertainment reporter who scores an interview with Jaxx.
Rock of Ages will go into production shortly, aiming for a June 1, 2012 release.
