Oscars producer and Rock of Ages director Adam Shankman confirmed on the red carpet today that Tom Cruise will star in the New Line/Warner Bros. film.
Cruise will play Jaxx, who sings Bon Jovi’s “Wanted Dead or Alive” in the theater production from which the film is adapted.
Shankman (Hairspray) will also choreograph the feature adaptation of the Broadway musical. The musical centers on two people who meet at the Sunset Strip club Rock of Ages, fall in love and try to stay together amid ’80s rock anthems.
