Chris Zylka’s role in Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot has been confirmed to be that of Flash Thompson, says a report at TheWrap.
Thompson, who first appeared in the original Spider-Man origin in Amazing Fantasy #15, was a high-school jock and bully to Peter Parker. Over the course of the comic book series, the two mended their animosity and became friends. Most recently, Thompson’s character has developed as a disabled war veteran, romantically linked to Betty Brant.
Zylka joins Andrew Garfield in the role of Parker and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy. The cast also includes Martin Sheen, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Julianne Nicholson, Irrfan Khan and Annie Parisse. Shooting began this week in Los Angeles with a release planned for July 3, 2012.
