Swiss Army Man to get worldwide release from A24
On the heels of yesterday’s successful trailer launch, A24 announced today that it will handle the worldwide release of the highly-acclaimed Sundance award winner Swiss Army Man, starring Daniel Radcliffe and Paul Dano. The company previously acquired North American rights after the film’s premiere at Sundance this past January. A24 has slated the film for domestic release on June 17th, 2016 in New York and Los Angeles, with a nationwide expansion to follow on July 1st. The company now owns worldwide rights and will partner with distributors and platforms to market and release the film globally.
A24 said, “In our short history, we have seen great success from releasing bold, original films that have distinct and cut-through storytelling and talented young cast who connect with their audience. The Daniels are visionaries and have created one of the most original, funny and heartfelt movies we’ve seen in a long time. It’s exactly what smart younger audiences around the world want.”
Winner of the Best Director prize at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival, Swiss Army Man follows what happens when Hank (Dano), a young man stranded on a deserted island, meets Manny (Radcliffe), a corpse that washes up on shore one day. The two become fast friends and take an epic journey together that eventually leads Hank back to the woman of his dreams.
