If Pacific Rim 2 Happens, Guillermo del Toro Wants Maisie Williams to Appear

Guillermo del Toro wants Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams to appear in Pacific Rim 2, if it happens

Earlier this week, Universal Studios and Legendary confirmed reports that Pacific Rim 2 had been delayed as development work continued on the upcoming sequel. Despite the film no longer being on Universal’s calendar, that’s not stopping director Guillermo del Toro from fan-casting the film as he wrote on Twitter that he’s got on particular “Game of Thrones” star in mind.

In addition to the upcoming sixth season of “Game of Thrones” set to air next year, Williams can next be seen in two episodes of series 9 of “Doctor Who.”

Pacific Rim 2 was originally scheduled for release on April 7, 2017 before being pushed to August 4, 2017 and ultimately removed from the calendar altogether. In a statement, Universal declared they were “committed to having ‘Pacific Rim 2,'” but that the delay was needed so the “creative team can continue in its efforts to exceed the amazing experience of the first film.”

Pacific Rim hit theaters in summer 2013 and grossed just $101 million at the domestic box office but went on to take in over $400 million worldwide. The original film starred Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Robert Kazinsky, Max Martini, and Ron Perlman.
