Rebecca Ferguson, Abbey Lee & Lea Seydoux Courted for ‘Gambit’ Female Lead

Channing Tatum is learned after starring in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.

To be directed by Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) and plans to begin shooting this fall, the film is now looking to fill out the rest of the cast, beginning with a female lead and Remy LeBeau’s (aka Gambit) love since childhood, Bella Donna Boudreaux.

Deadline reports Lea Seydoux (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Spectre), Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation) and Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road) are testing for the role.

Apparently Bella Donna comes from a rival Guild to that of Gambit, he being of the Guild of Thieves and she of the Guild of Assassins, causing for quite the predicament. Bella Donna’s father arranged a marriage between the two, hoping to unit the Guilds, but that didn’t work, but it never seems they end up fighting each other, though I didn’t read her entire Wiki entry.

Gambit is currently slated for an October 7, 2016 release, though I fully expect we’ll get our first look at Tatum as the character in an end credit scene following X-Men: Apocalypse in May.
