Rare, 17 Minutes of Stanley Kubrick Commentary on ‘Dr. Strangelove’

Personally I think the Internet focuses on Stanley Kubrick too much, a fact I believe turns a find like this into just another everyday Kubrick occurrence rather than the truly rare and exciting find it is.

Granted, calling the following two videos “new” is a bit of a stretch since they were uploaded to YouTube four years ago, but what follows is a rare, 35mm promo reel for Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb believed to be narrated by Kubrick himself. I say “believed to be” since there is no official confirmation this is Kubrick’s voice, but it certainly sounds like him and for a film that runs 95 minutes long, to have 18% of that with what could effectively be considered a Kubrick audio commentary is certainly an exciting bit of film history.

Give the videos a watch, or, more specifically, a listen below. [via Live for Films]
