Box Office Predictions: ‘Ted 2’ Faces Tough Competition Between ‘Inside Out’ & ‘Jurassic World’

Ted 2 is the clear, yet not overwhelming, favorite. The previous version of of our lovable bear comedy opened at $54 million, so I’m projecting just under a 30 percent sequel jump. With the dourness of the news the past few weeks I think everyone is ready for some lighthearted laughs. I mean, if Jurassic World is breaking records folks are clearly looking for an escape.

This version will be abridged because I forgot to write it and it needs to get up right this minute. Sorry! Moving on …

Inside Out rolling in at $59 million isn’t so bad, is it? The highest-grossing second place film ever should face a limited bleed due to the demographic. Adults hold all the purchasing power here, and they likely heard from their fellow parents that this was worth seeing.

Jurassic World is your bronze medalist in this scenario. At a billion dollars worldwide I don’t think they will cry too hard in their big dino-pillow about the $57 million coming in this weekend.

There is no fourth movie. Wait, what? Max! $10 million will have to be enough for this lemon. I think this will underachieve if anything, I mean who the hell wants a movie about a dog, kids, and war? And forced tension? No thanks man, no thanks.

Now it’s your turn, predictions away!

SIDE NOTE: Some of the theater numbers below are estimates. We’ll have the actual counts in Sunday’s wrap-up article.
