Cannes: New Clips & Pictures from ‘The Lobster’ Starring Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz

If you’ve never seen a film from Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos I recommend you open your mind and sit down with Dogtooth (read my review reviews I have a couple of new pictures to share as well as a couple of clips, which should give you some idea of what to expect

Just above is a shot of Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz, the two characters are the heart of what is described as an unconventional love story set in a dystopian near future. It’s here where single people, according to the rules of the Town, are arrested and transferred to the Hotel. There they are obliged to find a matching mate in 45 days. If they fail, they are transformed into an animal of their choosing and released into the woods. A desperate Man (Farrell) escapes from the Hotel to the Woods where the Loners live and there he falls in love, although it’s against their rules.

This plot should give you more than enough to explain why you see Léa Seydoux with a pig in the picture at the bottom of the post and to give you some idea of what’s going on in the two clips.

Along with those already mentioned, The Lobster also stars Ben Whishaw, Olivia Colman, John C. Reilly, Ashley Jensen and Jessica Barden. I really can’t wait to see this one and am praying someone snatches it up quickly, though I suspect I won’t be seeing it until Toronto in September.
