So, Ben Affleck has been seen on the Toronto set of Suicide Squad, but that’s not big surprise as it was always thought Batman/Bruce Wayne would have an appearance in that film. However, over at Latino Review they are suggesting there might be a little more to the story.
The site is reporting a rumor they’ve heard that a new flashback sequence is being added to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice that would feature The Joker (Jared Leto) killing Jason Todd (aka Robin), which gives reason to why he’s in jail at the beginning of Suicide Squad. Personally that sounds like something better suited for Suicide Squad, but that’s only because I tend to hate flashbacks in films and the idea of tacking one on at the last minute is even more cringe-inducing unless they plan on using said sequence as something of a stinger after the credits roll, though this sounds like it will be longer than just a few seconds if LatinoReview’s rumor proves true.
Apparently the story involving The Joker killing one of Batman’s Robins comes from the 1988 Batman comic story arc “A Death In The Family”, and rumor has it we’ll be seeing Todd’s Robin costume in a glass casket somewhere within Wayne manor in Batman v Superman.
I don’t know, I guess it makes sense when it comes to how Warner Bros. is trying to create this DC Comics “multiverse”, but it also sounds like they’re flying from the seat of their pants and doing whatever it is they can to pull everything together.
