Jennifer Lawrence Confirms ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Will be Her Last ‘X-Men’ Movie

Jennifer Lawrence turns 25 this August. In the first 24 years of her life she’s become a three-time Oscar nominated actress, an Oscar winner and star of not one, but two major franchises, both of which will be coming to a conclusion in the near future with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 arriving in theaters in November and X-Men: Apocalypse on May 27, 2016. While Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer told analysts back in February that he is “actively looking at some development and thinking about prequel and sequel possibilities” for The Hunger Games there is no word on whether or not that would involve Lawrence, but it seems one thing is for certain, no matter what comes after Apocalypse it won’t involve Lawrence’s Mystique.

Speaking with MTV, Lawrence was asked if Apocalypse would be her last X-Men film and she replied, “It is my last one, actually. Yes.” I know, not a lot, but it’s an interesting note if only because of how much Lawrence has accomplished in such as short period. How many people can boast about a career the likes of hers at such a young age? Not only has she managed to appeal to the critical base, but she’s become a pop culture icon, talked about at every turn and seemingly loved by all. Impressive and the future is bright.

Beyond the Hunger Games finale in November, Lawrence also has her third straight film with David O. Russell coming out in December with Joy, a film many are already predicting will earn her a fourth Oscar nomination. She’s also attached to star in It’s What I Do: A Photographer’s Life of Love and War based on the memoir by photographer Lynsey Addario with none other than Steven Spielberg directing.

As for her being done with the role as Mystique, I can’t really blame her. Who really wants to go through the process of all that blue body paint? I guess the question is, will someone take over for Lawrence once she leaves? Because you know Fox won’t be done with X-Men movies after Apocalypse.
