I want to be excited about Ridley Scott‘s The Martian, based on the novel by Andy Weir, but Scott’s track record as of late has left me continually disappointed based on my expectations and that’s a tough thing to get over. There have been a few bright spots here and there, things to enjoy about several of his recent movies, but it hasn’t all come together for one great product in a very long time. Perhaps that will change with this next film. I hope it does.
That said, just below is a first look behind-the-scenes at The Martian as Weir posted the following image to his Facebook page, featuring star Matt Damon in the lead role as Mark Watney, pictured here with his assistant and a peek at the Mars rover used in the film in the background.

Jeff Daniels, Donald Glover, Aksel Hennie, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Mackenzie Davis, Kate Mara and Sean Bean co-star.
The pic is set for a November 25, 2015 release, so this is probably the last we’ll see of the movie for some time, but hey, it’s something.
