Neill Blomkamp Confirms His ‘Alien’ Movie Will be His Next Film

Not too long ago District 9 director Neill Blomkamp posted some concept art for an idea he had for an Alien movie he conjured up during post production on his latest film, Chappie. After that it just seemed it was something that would go down as a director sharing some ideas. Then we learn Fox was actually interested in his idea, telling Uproxx, “I’m the problem. Fox, they would make it. Like, tomorrow. They would make it.” Well, it seems like Blomkamp is no longer the problem and Fox will indeed make it.

As has become rather fashionable as of late, Blomkamp took to Instagram and posted the picture you see included in this post with a caption reading, “Um… So I think it’s officially my next film. #alien”

Now what exactly this film is or could be is entirely unknown. If you look over the concept art Blomkamp posted (see it all right here) you’ll see Sigourney Weaver as Ripley and Michael Biehn‘s character Corporal Dwayne Hicks, which he played in James Cameron‘s Aliens. Is it a prequel? A sequel? Who knows.

What we do know comes from Variety, which reports Ridley Scott‘s Prometheus 2 is still in development so this seems like a completely different beast. Excited?
