Marvel Eyes Chiwetel Ejiofor for ‘Doctor Strange’ and ‘300’ Sequel Director for ‘Aquaman’

I’m sure most people forget, but Chiwetel Ejiofor had a pretty great showing in a fanboy feature once before, that being his villainous turn in Joss Whedon‘s Serenity. Now it would appear he’s looking to return to blockbuster fair once again, or at least he’s being “courted” to do so as Marvel is eying the recent Oscar nominee for a role in Doctor Strange.

THR reports sources saying Ejiofor is being sought for the role of the film’s villain, which would place him opposite Benedict Cumberbatch who’s already signed on to play the title character, the surgeon turned sorcerer supreme. Scott Derrickson (Sinister) is directing for a November 4, 2016 release.

In other comic book news, this being of the DC Comics variety, Latino Review is reporting Noam Murro (300: Rise of an Empire) is in the mix to direct Aquaman, which will feature Jason Momoa as the title hero with Karl Urban rumored for a supporting role.

Momoa will make his debut as Aquaman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on March 25, 2016 with Aquaman set for a July 27, 2018 release. Hopefully you don’t have plans on either of those days.
