Warner Bros. has premiered the first two pictures of Bradley Cooper in American Sniper, the upcoming film directed by Clint Eastwood based on the autobiography of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle.
Kyle is the Texas native who came to record the highest number of sniper kills for an American and speaking of the man he’s playing Cooper told USA Today, “Thank God I got to talk to him once on the phone… It was a very quick conversation. But I did tell him how serious I was about making this movie. And he should just know that whatever fears he had about Hollywood, to just put them aside and trust me. That I was going to do everything I could to tell this story.”
The reason Cooper says “Thank God I got to talk to him once on the phone” is because soon after that phone call place, Kyle and a friend of his were shot and killed on Feb. 2, 2013, at a shooting range in Texas.
Cooper put on 40 pounds to play the role, which is hard to necessarily see in these first two picture given the beard and amount of clothing he’s wearing, but I’m sure we’ll get a taste of it when the film hits theaters on December 25.
As far as what the film covers, Cooper said, “It’s a character study of this man” as it will not only focus on his time as a sniper, but also on his relationship with his wife Taya Renae Kyle, played by Sienna Miller and seen in the picture below.
I imagine will have a trailer for this movie soon enough if not by the end of the day tomorrow.
