New ‘Gone Girl’ Pictures, Plus David Fincher’s New Commercials for ‘The Gap’

David Fincher tells Empire his new film, Gone Girl, based on the popular Gillian Flynn novel is a date movie that will “end 15 million marriages”. I can almost see him saying that with a sly little grin, attempting to make the interviewer as uncomfortable as I’m sure he hopes his audience will be watching his new thriller.

The film stars Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike in a story about a crumbling marriage and what happens when she goes missing and suspicion falls on him. Affleck responds to Fincher’s comment saying, “I actually think this is the perfect date movie, not because I think it’ll result in divorce – I think that’s just David’s fantasy – but because it’s the kind of movie that a husband and wife could talk about afterwards. I think a man and a woman would have different takes on what happens. The last time I was in a movie that I thought polarized men and women in an interesting way was Chasing Amy. That was quite some time ago.”

Today Empire also offers three new pictures from the film, which will open the New York Film Festival before hitting theaters on October 3 and along with all that we have a new video essay on Fincher’s work (via Refocused Media) as well as four new commercials directed by Fincher for “The Gap”… Yeah, I didn’t know “The Gap” was still in business either, or they would have enough money to hire Fincher to direct four commercials, but there they are. Check out all the goodies down below.
