The picture above was just tweeted out by J.J. Abrams‘ production house Bad Robot, confirming Star Wars: Episode VII will contain sequences filmed in IMAX. Of course, there is no word on how much of the film will be shot in the format, but I have to assume we’re looking at a situation no different than what we got with Transformers: Age of Extinction, which was presented in both a 2.35:1 aspect ratio and a 1.90:1 aspect ratio for the IMAX sequences, but not to the full IMAX, 1.44:1 experience.
Pajiba, however, was able to uncover some news, revealing Abrams is using three of the four working IMAX 2D cameras in existence, the other is being used by Zack Snyder on Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. The film will then be post-converted to 3D.
Star Wars: Episode VII hits theaters on December 18, 2015.
