David Gordon Green is set to direct the pilot episode of “Red Oaks” for Amazon with Steven Soderbergh producing. The show is set in 1985, and features college student David Myers (Craig Roberts [pictured]) who is both reeling from his father’s heart attack and conflicted about what major to declare in the fall. Myers gets a summer job as an assistant tennis pro at the Red Oaks Country Club in suburban New Jersey and while there, he meets a colorful cast of misfit co-workers and wealthy club members including an alluring art student named “Skye” (Alexandra Socha) and her corporate raider father “Getty” (Paul Reiser). A coming-of-age comedy set in the “go-go” 80s that is equal parts hijinks and heartfelt, Red Oaks is about enjoying a last hurrah before summer comes to an end–and the future begins.
Richard Kind (“Spin City”), Jennifer Grey (Dirty Dancing) and Oliver Cooper (Runner Runner) co-star in the show that was written by Gregory Jacobs who will soon direct Magic Mike XXL and Joe Gangemi (Wind Chill).
Next up, while there still isn’t an official release date for the DVD and Blu-ray editions of X-Men: Days of Future Past, you can already decide if you want to buy it early or wait until later this year when a Director’s Cut will be made available. When asked on Twitter about the possibility of an extended cut featuring additional scenes with Anna Paquin‘s Rogue character, producer Lauren Shuler Donner replied, “Yes! Coming later this year.” I wouldn’t be surprised if this extended cut also featured more from Halle Berry as Storm.
@SheenaTylor2 @BryanSinger @Kinberg @ShuDonner @20thcenturyfox yes ! Coming later this year.
