I’ll finally be seeing Dawn of the Planet of the Apes on Tuesday and I’ll finally be able to see what all the fuss is about, because to go by these new TV spots that have been released it’s a “cinematic masterpiece” and, well, if we’re playing fast and loose with the meaning of “masterpiece” as I did when discussing Michael Bay recently than… okay.
I will say though, I have heard plenty of good things and I’m looking forward to seeing it. It sounds like a film where the studio was comfortable allowing it to play more like an old school sci-fi rather than requiring one of today’s dumbed down blockbusters. That’s certainly what helped the first one and helps it on repeat viewings. Also, no Tom Felton should help things as well.
