A pair of sequels have found new writers, the first of which is G.I. Joe 3, which will be written by Jonathan Lemkin (Shooter) with the expectation the film will center around Dwayne Johnson‘s Roadblock character. G.I. Joe: Retaliation director Jon M. Chu is not expected to return as Paramount is planning a 2016 release.
Then we come to Disney, who seems to have just remembered their now seven-year-old live-action/animated hybrid Enchanted was a hit and have brought in The Smurfs and Shrek 2 screenwriters, J. David Stem and David N. Weiss, to write Enchanted 2 with Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, The Guilt Trip) attached to direct. No word on which members of the original cast, which included Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey and James Marsden, will return. [Variety / Deadline]
