Bryan Singer just posted the following photo of the first page for the X-Men: Apocalypse script treatment he’s working on with Simon Kinberg, Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris and hints of the Nile River and “THE FOUR HORSEMAN” are clearly visible, seemingly picking up almost right where the end credits sequence after X-Men: Days of Future Past left off.
Speaking of, as I just noted in my post relaying this weekend’s box office actuals, X-Men: Days of Future Past is now the highest grossing worldwide release of the year with $712.7 million, just topping Captain America: The Winter Soldier at $711.2 million.
It’s unlikely the film will end the year as the #1 worldwide release with the likes of Transformers: Age of Extinction already bringing in $300+ million in three days and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies hitting theaters later this year, but this is now the highest grossing worldwide release for an X-Men movie and it is currently $11 million behind X-Men: The Last Stand in terms of unadjusted domestic gross.
All that said, if you were wondering about Singer’s involvement in the future of the X-Men franchise, given the THR, Fox’s President of Production Emma Watts said, “Right now we are totally at the outlining phase. But nothing would make me happier than if it all worked out. It’s always been the intention for him to do it.”
That said, here’s that photo and you can look for X-Men: Apocalypse on May 27, 2016 should time tables remain as they are right now.
