No one is surprised to see Think Like a Man Too is doing well at the box office, pulling in $12.2 million on Friday on its way to a $34 million weekend and the second #1 movie of the year for Kevin Hart after Ride Along sat atop the box office for three weekends straight back in January.
The film, however, isn’t showing any real growth over the first film’s release, which brought in $33.6 million back in 2012, but with a $24 million budget and the likelihood it will finish with around $100 million worldwide once all is said and done is there any reason to not expect Think Like a Man 3? Unfortunately I haven’t seen the sequel yet, but I really enjoyed the first and expect this one to be at least decent, even though the destination sequel typically results in a somewhat lackluster result. Audiences at least like it, scoring it an “A-” on the CinemaScore scale.
Otherwise, Clint Eastwood‘s Jersey Boys pulled in $4.6 million and is likely to finish, as expected, around $14 million. Blah, blah, blah… forgotten in a weekend.
I’ll have the complete weekend wrap up for you tomorrow, but it looks like 22 Jump Street will be second around $30 million, followed by How to Train Your Dragon 2 with a slightly larger drop than expected, possibly finishing around $25 million. What’s up with that? Are families just not into dragons?
