There wasn’t much chance the currently Untitled Jason Bourne Sequel was going to make its previously set August 14, 2015 release date after having only just recently brought on Andrew Baldwin to give the script a polish. So, Universal has bumped the date by almost a year, slotting the fifth film for a July 15, 2016 release. Justin Lin (Fast & Furious 6) remains attached to direct and Jeremy Renner will return as Aaron Cross. That is all we know for now.
In other 2016 news, Paramount recently confirmed plans for a whole slew of blockbusters including Transformers 5, Beverly Hills Cop 4 (Brett Ratner directing, Eddie Murphy starring), Star Trek 3 (Roberto Orci directing), G.I. Joe 3 (Jon Chu directing), a sequel to Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, another Paranormal Activity film and Timur Bekmambetov‘s Ben-Hur remake.
Now what’s most interesting in that list is the Paranormal Activity title as the news coming from THR suggests this won’t be Paranormal Activity 7, but instead Paranormal Activity 5, which is currently slated for an October 24, 2014 release. Are they really going to delay it two years?
