UPDATE: Variety has confirmed this previous rumor. Original story follows.
Remember the guy with the big head in the scene just before the credits following The Avengers? Well, his name is Thanos and he apparently plays some sort of role in Guardians of the Galaxy and a small part in Joss Whedon‘s Avengers: Age of Ultron as it seems he will be the big boss in The Avengers 3… or something like that.
Now word has come from Latino Review saying Josh Brolin (Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, No Country for Old Men) will voice the character combined with what will most likely be motion capture for the performance.
Based on what Guardians director James Gunn has said in the past, it’s very likely Brolin would therefore be featured in Guardians of the Galaxy as Gunn told MTV
We have Thanos. Thanos is the thing connecting us to the rest of the Marvel Universe at this point. And in the future we’ll see what happens after this, but for right now, we’re connected to the rest of the Marvel Universe because we’re resetting the end of The Avengers.
We’re definitely connected by Thanos. This is the first movie in the Marvel cosmic universe. We’re connected to the rest of the [Marvel Cinematic] Universe. How that plays out is gonna be seen as the future comes along.
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if the rumor is true, until then here’s that clip from The Avengers.
