Alfonso Cuaron Returning to World of Harry Potter? In Talks to Direct Rowling’s ‘Fantastic Beasts’

Depending on who you talk to, many believe the Alfonso Cuaron-directed Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is the best film in the Harry Potter filmed franchise. Following that film Cuaron was often rumored as a possible director for several of the subsequent sequels and he always seemed open to returning to the franchise. Now, it seems, he just might.

Nikki Finke reports Cuaron is in “deep talks” to direct the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them for Warner Bros.

WB recently set a November 18, 2016 release date for the film film, which is inspired by Harry Potter’s Hogwarts textbook “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” and will follow the adventures of the book’s fictitious author, Newt Scamander. Newt’s story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry’s gets underway.
